Happy St. Patrick's Day?

I went as  St. Patrick's Day for Halloween. I am not really that interested in Halloween anymore, may have overdone it in my youth! But then I thought about it and I love dressing up. I dress up for football every week (Go Packers!) and I love dressing up for St. Patrick's Day. So in a place where buying costumes is pretty impossible and days are indistinguishable I decided what better costume than all the awesome things people had sent me for my birthday. I went around telling everyone Happy St. Patrick's Day all night, it was epic. Obviously not everyone felt the same way about Halloween, some people went way out!

Taming the jungle

My friend, Robert, secured an apartment in the exclusive, elusive neighborhood of Peter Bay. I read about St. John all the time for work, and just yesterday I read someone say if there were a millionaire's mile of St. John it would be Peter Bay.

However even in the ritzy part of paradise, all the same issues that face us all face the Villas that reside there. Plants that grow a mile a minute obstructing the view, seems to be the most paramount at least during the rainy season.

So Robert scales the cliff with his machete to keep the view pristine. There is no way I'm participating in this activity OR in the coconut tree climbing to get a damn coconut either. I will take pictures, enjoy the view and eat coconuts. It is Peter Bay after all!

Best day ever!

When I first moved here it was the second week in January, I went straight to work and the island was PACKED. Everyone who has lived here for a long time told me that they looked forward to the off season when they got to go to empty beaches and things were closed and quite. I was not convinced, because I typically thrive on chaos.

After a complete off "hurricane" season on St. John I am beginning to be convinced that I may not have been completely right. Going to the beach three times a week is incredibly relaxing. This day I went to Maho with Robert, Megan and Mike. We shared sandwiches and played frisbee with a few cocktails.

Then it started to downpour. We threw our towels in the car and got into the water. We ended up huddled under a beach umbrella with the rain drops surrounding us in the water. I do not have a photo of that but I think Robert does. Anyway, when it stopped we went snorkling and then headed back to town. We stopped at Frank's Bay to watch the sunset. I still cannot believe that every day ends with this view.
